Microsoft pulls Windows RT 8.1 update to fix problems

Last week, Microsoft officially released Windows 8.1 update for users across the world. The company has now pulled the plug for its Windows RT 8.1 update. The update has been removed from its website as it has been causing problems to some users.

Microsoft hasn’t revealed any details about the problem, and simply pulled out RT 8.1 from its website over the weekend. Reports suggest that the software giant is investigating the issues caused by the update. Reports on web suggest that people upgrading to Windows RT 8.1 are experiencing boot configuration data errors, which is resulting into blue screens of death upon startup. However, the problem has affected only a limited number of users. 

Pulled the plug

In the place of the update, the company has now put up an apology for the problem and said that it’s trying to resolve the issue. Microsoft has also promised to give further updates as soon as possible.

Microsoft’s Windows RT 8.1 operating system is designed for mobile computing, especially tablets. Last week, we saw two new Windows 8.1 tablets from Acer and Lenovo. The Windows 8.1 update features a host of new features, mostly aimed at refining customisation elements. It also bundles a few apps, both new as well as updates of previous apps including Skype, Mail, Xbox Video, Xbox Music and Bing Food & Drink.
