Microsoft Build 2015: Carrier billing across all Windows 10 devices announced

Microsoft announced at its Build 2015 keynote on Wednesday that it will expand carrier billing to support to all Windows 10 devices including tablets and desktops. At the moment carrier billing is only available on Windows smartphones.Carrier billing lets you pay for all your digital purchases on Windows Marketplace in your phone's monthly bill, as long your carrier allows it. Microsoft has partnered with around 90 carriers and plans to add on more.Carrier billing is particularly important in developing markets such as India and the African nations. In these countries a lot of people own a mobile phone, but may not necessarily have a credit card or debit card. This immediately limits them from purchasing apps on the phone's market places.With carrier billing, all the apps and in-app purchases show up in your smartphone bill. Microsoft claims that as soon as it made carrier billing live for its smartphones, the sales of digital content in the developing markets rose by almost 8 times. With many more users using Windows based desktop and Windows laptops in the future, this adds more potential for higher sales.
