Micromax launches quad-core A110Q Canvas 2 Plus for Rs 12,100

Micromax has quietly launched a quad-core version of its ultrapopular A110 Canvas 2 smartphone. The A110Q Canvas 2 Plus is currently available through the company’s website for Rs 12,100.

The best part about the Canvas 2 Plus is that it runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is just one peg below the latest version of the OS. The smartphone has a 5-inch display with a disappointing 854 x 480 resolution. We would have ideally liked to see a 720p display or at least a qHD one. In terms of processing power, the Q in the model number refers to the quad-core processor. Micromax has once again gone with MediaTek’s MT6589 chipset with each of the four cores clocked at 1.2GHz. The processor will benefit from 1GB of RAM.

Micromax Canvas 2 Plus

In terms of design, there’s nothing here that stands out in comparison to other recent Micromax smartphones. We wish Micromax would move away from the tried-and-tested design formula and present something that’s also great to look at and not just good on paper.

Internal storage in the dual-SIM Canvas 2 Plus is restricted to 4GB, but there’s a microSD card alot as always, to take in cards up to 32GB in capacity. Just like the Canvas HD, which also has the MT6589 chipset, the Canvas 2 Plus also has a 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash. The front camera is a 2-megapixel unit.

The 2000 mAh battery should last long considering the low-res display and the power-efficient chipset. The Canvas 2 Plus is pre-loaded with the M!Live app that allows users to download unlimited songs.
