Micromax is expected to launch the first Cyanogen-based smartphone under its new YU brand on Dec 18. Last month, Micromax had announced the launch of their new sub-brand for Cyanogen-based handsets. The company has not released much information about the handset. The invitation reads as, "Time travel is not an option and you should block your date. Play God". A few leaks indicate that the company's first YU branded phone could be powered by a 64-bit CPU. There is no news about the specific chipset used. No information on the availability and pricing has been announced.According to Digit, the YU smartphone will be among the first devices in India to be powered by Qualcomm’s new octa-core SoCs. This could mean either the Snapdragon 615 or Snapdragon 410 chipsets, which are both 64-bit octa-core processors.Earlier, Micromax had announced the Yu Developers Challenge for Indian app developers. The contest aimed at Indian app developers to develop apps for the Cyanogen OS on the Android platform. The grand prize for the winner is Rs 1,00,000.
