Messenger Plus Maker Loses MVP Status
Microsoft strips 'Patchou', the maker of Messenger Plus MSN add-on, of his MVP status for adware distribution.
Betanews has reported that Microsoft has reversed its decision of awarding its Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award to the maker of Messenger Plus Cyril Paciullo or 'Patchou'. The reason being that Messenger Plus despite being extremely popular, bundles in the rather malicious LOP adware package.
The MVP status is given to an 'elite' set of developers who through their programs and skills have significantly enhanced the usability of programmes on Microsoft Platforms. The questions have arisen because even though there is an option to not install the malware, the software actively encourages you to install it without any significant explanation, as to how it will affect system behavior.
A Microsoft spokesperson said, "His active MVP Award status was revoked as soon as the extent of the connection between his application and spyware was made apparent to the MVP Program."
