Mcafee Discovers Proof Of Concept Virus

Security company McAfee has declared that it has detected a worm, MSH/Cibyz, supposedly developed by virus writers in Austria. This malicious code targets Windows PowerShell, the new command line interface shell and scripting language product being developed by Microsoft for its next-generation OS's and development. MSH/Cibyz is designed to spread using the Kazaa file-sharing network. The worm runs in PowerShell, formerly known as Monad, which will form the core of future Microsoft products such as Exchange Server 2007.The worm works in the age-old fashion of tricking users into clicking on a certain attractively named link or running a malicious script. Once clicked on or run, it will overwrite important file types and cause damage to the system. The good thing to be noted in this that powershell itself has no exploit and is merely a developmental tool and products that might get affected by this worm are a while away.
