Not only will G2 be the first smartphone to be launched as part of the company’s new “G” series, upcoming smartphones in the same series too will carry the G branding. The branding of phones that have already been introduced, however, will remain unchanged, LG confirmed.

The upcoming LG Optimus G2 smartphone has already been garnering its fair share of buzz. Some pictures of the phone have already made an appearance via leaks and a while ago we also caught a glimpse of the weird volume button arrangement under the camera on the back. Engadget managed to lay its hands on a fresh set of images and a video and these have come to reveal more about the G2 smartphone.

The new images reveal that LG will be going with on-screen buttons instead of the capacitive ones we first saw on the Optimus G. The G had squared-off edges and a rectangular look, while the G2 has Nexus 4-like curved edges, which do look pleasing. The display is said to be 5.2-inches diagonally and has a 1080p resolution in keeping with the competition. Amazingly, LG has managed to narrow down the bezels on the G2 to almost non-existent size. As a result, the phone is more compact than some of its rivals.
