While most of the world is waiting for a slice of Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich, LG appears a bit off pace with the company announcing that the Optimus 3D will receive the Gingerbread update by next week. Previously via their official Facebook page, LG announced that three of the Optimus handsets will receive the Gingerbread 2.3 update, namely the Optimus 2X, Optimus 3D and the Optimus Black. Optimus 3D to finally receive Gingerbread update

According to a post on their site, LG has announced that the Optimus 3D will receive the Android Gingerbread update and with the latest software, the handset would receive features such as an enhanced network speed, better 3D experience and improved multimedia functions. The Optimus 3D currently runs on Froyo and with LG’s customized Gingerbread upgrade, one can expect download speeds off 3G with HSPA+ to up to 21Mbps. The update also features a 3D Editor wherein users will be able to edit and create 2D as well as 3D movies on the handset itself. LG has added an image stabilization feature for the 2D video camera that records at 1080p; this feature was previously limited only to 3D video camera that captures at 720p.

Apart from this, the update will include improved video recording as well as longer MP3 playback time. The global rollout for this update is said to start next week in Europe, while the rest of the world will receive it before the year ends. For more information, hit the link here.
