Lenovo launches A7-30 entry-level tablet for Rs 9,979

Lenovo has launched its no-frills, 7-inch tablet A7-30, designed to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo and the HP Slate 7. The key talking point of this tablet is perhaps its dual front-facing Dolby-enhanced  speakers, which Lenovo claims to provide "loud and distortion-free" sound when watching video or listening to music. We are yet to check this out ourselves, but it should provide better sound than tablets that have mono speakers placed at their back, which make the audio sound thin and tinny when you’re facing the screen. The A7-30 runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core processor, so it should be pretty nippy for regular web browsing and light gaming. It features a decent 1024x600 resolution screen – on par with most tablets in its league. This A7-30 includes a SIM slot that allows you to use it as a secondary phone. You can also access the Internet via Wi-Fi, though, Lenovo has not included 3G support, which means you’ll have to rely on the slower 2G or EDGE speeds when you’re on the move. It packs 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB with an external memory card. The Lenovo A7-30 packs a 3500mAh battery, which is claimed to offer up to 8 hours of Wi-Fi browsing on a single charge.  The cameras are pretty basic, too, with a 2MP main camera and a 0.3MP front camera for voice calls and self-shots. All in all, there's nothing that stands out in the A7-30, which is entering a very crowded market that has also seen Flipkart launching a tablet recently.
