Lenovo A7-50 7-inch tablet with voice-calling launched for Rs 15,499

After launching a slew of mid-range handsets in the country, Lenovo is now focussing on the tablet segment. The Chinese PC giant has launched A7-50, an Android-based tablet, priced at Rs 15,499. The price puts Lenovo A7-50 up against some serious competition such as the Nexus 7 and the Xolo Play Tegra Note. It's powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor in the MT6582 chipset, made by MediaTek. You can also expect a Mali 400 GPU clocked at 500 Mhz. Just like most MediaTek devices, it runs Android 4.2, but Lenovo says it will be delivering a KitKat update at a later time. The 9.6 mm thin slate has 1GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage which is expandable to 32 GB via microSD card. The 7-inch IPS display of the A7-50 has HD resolution (1280 x 800 pixels). Not much else has been said about the display, so we don't know about a scratch-resistant coating. The tablet also features a 5MP rear camera, and a 2MP front camera along with a 3450mAh battery, that's said to be good for up to 8 hours of usage and a week's worth of standby. Thanks to the SIM slot, the A7-50 has 3G for cellular data and can also be used as a primary phone thanks to voice calling. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS with A/GPS. The Lenovo A7-50 also comes preloaded with Lenovo's app suite, including Shareit, Secureit and Syncit apps, and the only colour available for now is midnight blue.
