Leaked image shows HTC One mini 2 in silver, gold and gunmetal

Following the fad of churning out mini variants of high-end flagships, news has it that HTC is working on a ‘mini’ version of its One M8. Prolific tipster Evleaks - known to disclose accurate information about to-be-announced smartphones - has tweeted an image showing the ‘HTC One mini 2’ in  silver, gold and gunmetal. Take a look at the tweet below:

 Going by the image, the One Mini 2 is expected to feature a smaller display. HTC will be giving the Duo Camera a mis, and will also lack dual LED flash. Unlike the One M8, the mini version gets a metal body with a plastic rim around the screen. HTC has also repositioned the sensors and the power button. Unlike Sony, HTC doesn’t plan a mini variant that comes with flagship-like powerful features in a smaller display. Instead, the HTC One Mini 2 appears to be a watered down version with a premium build, which could sell at a lower price. However, other specs of the device like its processor and camera are yet unclear.  Its flagship One M8 is already available for sale in India. The One M8 gets a 5-inch full HD Super LCD 3 display that’s just as good as last year’s One. HTC has retained the front-facing BoomSound speakers, so you get a rich audio experience. Internally, the One M8 gets Snapdragon 801, the top-of-the-line SoC from Qualcomm, with the quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz. It also gets 2GB of RAM. Software-wise, the One M8 runs Android 4.4 KitKat, with Sense 6 UI and gets some nifty gesture-based controls. HTC has also added a battery saver mode, which preserves battery for several hours when it’s at the lower end.
