Launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 pushed back to end April

A few days before the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona kicked off; Samsung previewed what they had to offer on the tablet front at the event. At the time they had showed off just one of the two tablets from their new Galaxy Tab 2 series. The MWC event proved a little juicier with the brand taking the wraps off a 10.1-inch model of the Galaxy Tab 2. During the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 in Barcelona, the brand revealed that these low cost tablets would land on shelves by March. These tablets were expected to be launched first in the UK followed by a global release shortly after. However, with March come and gone, the world is yet to see either of the two tablets from Samsung. As per a report by Computerworld, the reason Samsung has still not launched these tablets is due to Samsung’s implementation of Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich on the tablets.

The wait has got a little bit longer

As per the report, a Samsung spokesperson has stated that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series of tablets have not yet been launched is due to the brand along with Google needing some more time to work on the Ice Cream Sandwich version of the Android mobile operating system. The report states that the spokesperson did not shed any more light on what exactly the brands were working on but one would gather that it is the TouchWiz user interface by Samsung, to work well with Ice Cream Sandwich, on the two upcoming tablets.

As for the launch of the products, Samsung has stated that the tablets will go on sale by the end of April.
