Search technology innovator Blekko has launched the latest version of its search engine. The new engine breaks down the search results into categories that offer links to curated results from verified sources of content.

"Over the past several months, Blekko has evolved their curated list of slashtags into categories in order to better serve a user base that has grown to about 12.5 million, with more than 5 million searches a day," stated Rich Skrenta, CEO, Blekko. "The new Blekko site now features a responsive design, colourful visual cues, and a more image-rich layout."Cover

The latest version of the search engine helps you by dividing the search results into various categories

As promised by the CEO, the new search engine does offer you curated results, dividing it into various categories like top results, news, travel, maps, economics, Twitter and many more. Say, when you search for “Intel”, the results were divided into categories like top results, Twitter, reviews, retailers and so on.

On the other hand, when someone like Steven Gerrard is put under the scanner, the search results you get are divided into categories like top results, soccer, social, Twitter and latest.

"Currently, search engine algorithms literally guess at the users’ interest or intention in a search term. Then they present results based on a complicated formula of links and traffic to pages, rather than the quality of the content. This gives an advantage to content creators who know how to game the algorithms."  Skrenta added.

Moreover, the search engine also has provision to curate and display pictures and videos. The pictures are searched all over the web while the video search is restricted to YouTube.
