Japan's Tragedy Eats into its Technology Sector

The Japan tragedy has affected all business spheres in Japan, including the booming technology industry.

The chip companies, for instance, haven’t been spared the repercussions of the earthquake and the subsequent Tsunami. Toshiba, a recognized brand in the technology industry that makes the flash memory technology used in tablets and smartphones mentioned an increase in chip prices. Also, known brand names like Sony and SanDisk had to stop in their production units for a brief period, as the fear of destruction kept rising.

This year, has been a strong one, in terms of the demand for flash memory, a technology manufactured by Toshiba. With sales getting affected, at a time when high demand’s expected, it’s certainly not a nice picture. Severe problems, especially in the logistics department will be faced by the companies in Japan.
