According a report from 9to5mac,Apple's design chief Jonathan Ive seems to have gone for a complete design overhaul. The report states that, in software design meetings with Apple's iOS designers, accompanied by Apple's Human Interface vice president Greg Christie, Ive has shared his reasoning behind his distaste for the texture-heavy (skeuomorphic) interfaces heralded by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and former iOS chief Scott Forstall.
It seems Ive also felt that iOS apps have several differing designs which leaves Apple's users confused. For example, the yellow Notes app in contrast to the Silver-coloured Maps app.
