Intex aims to launch 20 more smartphones this year

After recently launching its Aqua I-5 smartphone, Intex has announced that it plans to sell as many as 2 million units of its Aqua smartphones in FY 2013-14. The company announced that it managed to sell 7 lakh handsets last month, of which its Aqua range of smartphones contributed to over one lakh units.

At the launch of the Intex I-5 smartphone, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, GM-Mobility Division, Intex said, “The Smartphone penetration is witnessing an upward swing in India and is encouraging for handset companies such as Intex to innovate and put forth offerings that combine the latest technologies and features at an affordable price. The Intex Aqua series has done phenomenally well and we are pleased to introduce the flagship model the series called Aqua I-5. Feature rich, technologically advanced, this phone will make an ideal companion to the young generation who is always on the lookout for better, faster and savvier smartphones on the go that are value for money.”

In its statement, the company added that it has already launched 12 mid-segment smartphones under its Aqua range and has plans to launch 20 more during the next quarter.

The Intex Aqua I-5 smartphone, which is the latest in the company's Aqua line of smartphones, has been launched for Rs 11,690. The Aqua I-5 is likely to compete with the Micromax Doodle A111, A110Q Canvas 2 and Xolo Q1000, to name a few. However, the highlight of the Aqua I-5 is its 12MP camera, giving it an edge over the others. Check out the list of all budget quad-core phones here.
