Instagram GIFs are back as the company reactivates a reviewed GIPHY library on its platform

GIFs are finally back on Instagram weeks after the company disabled GIF integration from the image sharing platform. GIPHY has reviewed its GIF library to ensure that the situation does not repeat itself. With Instagram enabling back the feature, Snapchat is yet to take any action on the review done by GIPHY.[caption id="attachment_4411749" align="alignleft" width="380"] The GIPHY library has been reactivated in Instagram. The affected content was removed from the library after GIPHY reportedly fixed the bug and reviewed the library four times.In early March, a user in England saw a racist GIF as an option in GIPHY’s library while using Snapchat. The racist GIF in question suggested that millions of deaths are caused by black people. Following this, Instagram and Snapchat removed the option to add gifs using GIPHY library from their respective platforms.The GIPHY library is used in Instagram Stories and Snapchat stories. Meanwhile, GIPHY said in its statement that not only do they condone the racism but it also took responsibility for the problem.Social media platforms have been called out in the past for hosting extremist content on their platforms with calls to turn social media platforms sensitive to any such information on their platform.
