Indian student Arjit Kansal wins Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 World Champion award

Indian student Arjit Kansal won the first place in the 2014 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship, outshining over 4 lakh students from 130 countries.

Kansal was among the 123 participants that made it to the finals. In the concluding round, participants were given unique project-based tests to demonstrate their ability to create presentations for the information presented in PowerPoint.

“More than 740,000 exams were uploaded as part of this competition, and the MOS  World Champions are tops in an elite group of individuals who know how to use Microsoft Office tools effectively,” said Bob Whelan, president and chief executive officer for Pearson VUE (governing body of Certiport), which organises the competition.

The award ceremony was held at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort where Arjit Kansal was presented with a $5,000 scholarship. In the following interview, the elated Kansal was almost out of words when asked how he felt about winning the competition.

Arjit Kansal is 16 years old and was sponsored by CyberLearning for the competition. The runners-up in the competition were Pongsatorn Dhanabordeephat from Thailand and Phuc Duy Tran from Vietnam.
