IIT Mumbai and NGO CRY join hands to build a career guidance app for the underprivileged

Abhyuday. Facebook[/caption]Abhyuday can reach over 20,000 students spread across more than 250 colleges in India and conducts lectures, donation drives and year-long campaigns. The student body of Abhyuday started the Career Counselling Campaign (CCC) to make it easier for the underprivileged high school students to be aware of the various career options available for them and how they could pursue them.Professor Kameshwari Chebrolu from IIT Mumbai had the idea of creating an app for this purpose thereby making career counselling accessible to the underprivileged. Abhyuday's helpline phone number (022-33574589) will help a student of any class to register a query for any specified stream. A registered volunteer with the necessary knowledge would then resolve the query.Commenting on this initiative Kameshwari Chebrolu added “The best way to spend your time is by helping others. The app is designed in a way which allows you to help when you are free and another unique point of the app is that it keeps the identity of the helper and the end user hidden."On its partnership with IIT Mumbai, CRY Regional Director Kreeanne Rabadi said "We are delighted to partner with a prestigious institute like IIT Mumbai for this unique initiative. This app will provide young people with access to much-needed guidance and direction to in choosing the right career".
