IFA 2015: What to expect from Samsung, Sony, Motorola and others

With IFA 2015 just round the corner, we can expect a lot happening in the tech world over the next couple of days. The consumer electronics fair IFA takes place between September 4 - 9 2015 in Berlin, but press conferences begin from September 2. This year there have been rumours about a lineup of devices from companies such as Samsung, Motorola and so on. Let's take a quick look at what we can expect at the IFA 2015.SamsungWhile Samsung made some big announcements at the Unpacked event lately, it is expected to launch the Gear S2 at the IFA this year. The Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 is expected to run on Tizen. While Tizen hasn’t been able to make a mark in the devices space, just like similar attempts with webOS and bada by Samsung, it might just make perfect sense to test the potential of a new operating system with the newest tech product category out there. For now, it seems Samsung will continue its focus on Tizen, instead of switching to Google Wear.Given the space around which smartwatches are currently operating, the apps being developed for smartwatches are still fairly low. Also, it makes sense to have a more optimised operating system with minimal bloat.MotorolaThe highly anticipated successor of the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch is likely to make a debut at the IFA. It should be noted that the original Moto 360 was launched last year. Images of the upcoming watch are already out and one will also notice some design tweaks such as the crown has been re-positioned. It was earlier reported to be launched by the end of this year, and we could probably see it at the IFA.SonySony, who is believed to have been confused about naming its next Xperia flagship Z3+ or Z4 may finally call the new device Xperia Z5. We could most likely see Z5 and z5 Compact. It is expected to feature an impressive specification sheet including 4k display, 23 MP camera with 0.03 sec autofocus and 5X digital zoom.HuaweiHuawei is rumoured to be working on a new smartphone that will be showcased at the IFA this year, featuring the company's own version of Force Touch technology. This is similar to what we'd seen last year as the company announced the Ascend P7 Sapphire featuring a sapphire crystal display. We may also get an update on the Android Wear-running Huawei Watch.AsusOne of the biggest highlights of the tech event is likely to be the ZenWatch 2 that was announced earlier at the Computex. At the IFA, it may finally get a release date and pricing. The company is promising 'dramatically improved' recharging times, new magnetic connector and some extra watch faces along with standard Android Wear interface.LGLG is all set to show off its OLED TV at the IFA. LG TVs are said to be a 'perfect mix' of OLED and HDR. Going by the rumours, the company may also unveil the G4 Pro. The company may put the LG Rolly on display too. The Bluetooth keyboard rolls up to resemble a tiny soundbar or a mobile battery. When unrolled, the Rolly becomes a full-size smart Bluetooth keyboard.LenovoLenovo has been rather tight lipped about its IFA plans, but some of its highlights are said to be a refreshed lineup of Windows 10 devices. The Yoga series could also see an update. A 5.5-inch Vibe P1 Android device is also said to be in the lineup.AcerAt the IFA, Acer is likely to update its smartphone and tablet lineup. Rumours point at a new Windows Phone running the all new Windows 10 operating system.Besides, Google is expected to show more of the Android Wear at the event. It may also show some more devices that work with Nest and more on Google's Brillo smartphone platform.
