IBM is buying fraud protection software maker Trusteer, amid the growing threat of cyberattacks.

The Armonk, N.Y., technology services company announced the acquisition Thursday, but didn't disclose how much it paid for Trusteer.IBM buys Trusteer

In connection with the deal, IBM said it's forming a new software lab in Israel where Trusteer and IBM researchers and developers will work together on cybersecurity issues.

The lab is an addition to IBM's existing research and development facilities in Israel.

Trusteer, which has offices in both Boston and Israel, helps organizations protect Web applications, employee and customer computers, and mobile devices from financial fraud and security threats. Its software can identify security threats that can be missed by traditional security software, IBM said.
