Hynix DDR3 Memory Range Vaildated By Intel

Hynix has announced that Intel has validated its new range of DDR3 products to be fully compliant with the upcoming DDR3 standard. These new DDR3 memory modules are available currently in multiples of 1 GB and 2 GB. Apart from that these new memory modules also sport operating speeds of 800 MHz, 1066 MHz and require a 1.5v supply. The CAS latencies, which are being currently offered, are 5-5-5 for the 800 MHz and 7-7-7 for the 1066 Mhz. Both the 800 and 1066 MHz sticks are being currently manufactured on the 80nm format with a shift expected to the 66 nm manufacturing process by the end of the year. These new sticks will be available commercially by the end of the year.

Keeping in mind the current domination of the DDR2 standard, one can expect the DDR3 platform to pick up steam next year. Both Intel and AMD have indicated upcoming platform changes, which will be utilizing DDR3 and will become mainstream by the middle of next year.
