Huawei might be planning to follow HTC and Samsung’s footsteps and release a Google Edition phone soon. Kevin Ho, the President of the handset division of the company, recently told Pocket-Lint that they were in talks with Google to create a Google Edition of the Ascend P6. Just like the "Nexus" versions of the HTC One and the Galaxy S4, the Google Edition P6 will also run the stock Android UI.

"We are working with Google to analyse the possibility of bringing out a Huawei Ascend P6 with Google Edition," Pocket-Lint quotes Ho as saying. If Google and Huawei come through with a Google Edition of the Ascend P6, the Chinese company will stand to gain a lot of publicity and good traction if the attention Samsung and HTC enjoyed at their respective phones’ launch is any indication. Would look really cool with the stock Android UI

It might also help Huawei with its market share as such a collaboration will do much to improve the company’s overall brand recall and image in overseas markets. The company’s phones are big in the Asian markets—especially in China—but it is yet to gain a significant foothold in the western world.

Launched last week, the Ascend P6 features a 4.7-inch HD in-cell display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone is only 6.18 mm thick and has a really thin bezel as well as on-screen buttons. The phone is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core K3V2+ processor, has 2GB of RAM, and runs on a 2000 mAh battery.

The P6 features an 8 megapixel camera with an F/2.0 BSI lens on the rear and a 5 megapixel front camera. The overall weight of the smartphone stands at 120 g. On the software front, the phone comes with Huawei’s very own Emotion UI on top of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
