HTC One S smartphone to release in India by May 2012

At the Mobile World Congress event held in Barcelona, Spain, in February, HTC took the wraps off their One series smartphones. At the event, the brand showed off four handsets, namely the HTC One X, One XL, One V and One S. The flagship handset from this series came in the form of the quad-core beast, which is the One X. Ever since these handsets were announced; HTC has been dishing out timely updates indicating as to when the handset will be available across the globe. In the first half of March, it was reported that Manu Seth, Country Head of Marketing for HTC India, said that HTC will be launching Android Ice Cream Sandwich based smartphones the One X, One V and One S in Singapore on March 30 and in the first week of April they would be available to the Indian audiences. However, HTC had officially launched only the One X and One V in India on the 2nd of April and no word had surfaced about the third handset from HTC’s One series, the One S.

This appears to have changed to a very large extent as an exclusive report by The Mobile Indian states that at the launch event in Singapore, Lennard Hoornik, President of HTC South Asia Pacific, said that the HTC One S will be launched in the Indian market in May. However, no specific date had been provided, just the time frame.

The HTC One S sells in the United Kingdom at a price of £419, which roughly converts to Rs.33,994. Judging by the price of the One X, one would gather that the handset would be priced at more than Rs. 1,000 less. As of now, we have to just wait and see how the whole thing pans out and at what price HTC launches the One S in India.
