HTC launches Desire 516 in India for Rs 14,200: Yet another mid-range contender

HTC has launched the Desire 516 mid-ranger in India and it comes on the day that BlackBerry introduced the new Z3 for India. Both smartphones are more or less similar in terms of specs. The Desire 516 has an MOP of Rs 14,200, while the official MRP has not been mentioned by HTC. The Desire 516 is a dual-SIM device (GSM+GSM), but HTC doesn’t mention which version of Android it is running. An eBay listing suggests it could be Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which would be a great disappointment at a time when even phones half its price are coming with KitKat. Like the Z3, the 516 sports a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display, with a pixel density of 220 PPI. That’s not bad by any means, but we would have preferred a 720p display, which are not that expensive these days.
