HTC introduces the One and One mini in a new avatar: Vivid Blue

HTC has now introduced a new variant of its flagship One smartphone as well as the One mini. This time around, both smartphones will be seen in a blue avatar, which HTC is calling Vivid Blue. While the HTC One will come with black lines along its accents, the One mini will sport a lighter shade of blue across its accents.

The colour can be interpreted as either cyan or turquoise, depending on your definition of the palette. Either way, the company has definitely added a splash of colour to its line-up. HTC is not the only company that is jazzing up its line-up. Nokia, in the last few months, has been pushing more and more colour options for its line-up for Lumia smartphones. Reports seem to suggest that Apple too is joining the race, with its budget iPhone speculated to come with a whole range of colours added in.

Both the Vivid Blue One and One mini smartphones will come with exactly the same specifications as their predecessors. The Vivid Blue version of the HTC One will come with the same Android 4.2.2 OS, which was recently upgraded by the company. Customising the OS is HTC’s Sense 5.0 UI. Internally, the One packs a 1.7 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC, along with LTE and 32GB of internal memory.

The USP of the HTC One is its 4.7-inch display that comes with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. So far, the smartphone has helped the company gain quite a bit in sales, with an executive reportedly claiming that the One sold 5 million units a month after its release.

The smartphone’s younger sibling, the One mini, comes with a 4.3-inch display sporting a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720. That amounts to an impressive pixel density of 342 ppi. The One mini comes with the same rear camera as the One i.e. a 4-megapixel primary camera with an Ultrapixel sensor as well as a separate Image2 chip for image processing. The One mini, however, sports a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera and lacks HDR capability. Another potential drawback is that the One mini has 16GB of internal memory with no option to upgrade.

There has been no word from the company about when the new variants of the two smartphones will be out, but reports suggest that the company will not be waiting too long before getting the Vivid Blue One and One mini out in the market. As for the price, we're hoping HTC maintains the same price for the coloured variants.
