Honor 5C launched in Europe, arriving in India tomorrow

Huawei’s aspirational brand Honor announced its new budget smartphone, the Honor 5C for the European market today with prices starting at £149 (Rs 14,900) in the UK and €199 (Rs 15,200) for the rest of Europe.The handset has been selling in China and features a 5.2-inch full HD IPS LCD panel along with a unibody metal design. It runs on Huawei’s in-house chip, an octa-core Kirin 650 SoC with eight Cortex-A53 cores out of which four are clocked at 2GHz and the rest at 1.7GHz. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It is a dual SIM device with a hybrid SIM card slot so you can expand the memory as well via a microSD card supporting up to 256GB.The smartphone comes with a 13MP camera at the back with an f/2.0 aperture and a front 8MP camera with a similar aperture size as the rear unit. The battery is rated at 3,000mAH and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, 4G LTE and a microUSB port. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s Emotion UI skin on top. While the original Honor 5C which is selling in China comes with a rear fingerprint scanner, the European version misses out on this feature.The Honor 5C is expected to arrive in India tomorrow as the company has an official launch event in the capital city New Delhi. Hopefully India will get the handset with a fingerprint scanner as a number of budget smartphones offer this feature.
