HMD Global begins officially rolling out Android Oreo 8.1 to Nokia 8

Less than two weeks after having announced the beta build of Android Oreo 8.1 for the Nokia 8, HMD Global has now begun rolling out the update officially. Image: tech2/Rehan Hooda[/caption]According to a report by Android Police, the news of the official roll-out was announced by Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer for HMD Global who took to his personal Twitter handle to make the announcement.Nokia 8 users have since shared screenshots of the update page on the phone.The Android Oreo 8.1 update on the Nokia 8 is roughly 1.6 GB in size and is available for download over Wi-Fi only. The update to the latest version of Android comes with a number of small changes to Android Oreo 8.0.Going by what is mentioned in the screenshots of the update, the key updates to the Nokia 8 include battery level reporting for devices connected via Bluetooth, a new settings menu and a revamped power menu.

The update also corrects the much talked about hamburger emoji and also includes the February Google Security Patch. The news of rollout comes on the back of a massive price cut for the Nokia 8 in India, making it currently one of the lowest priced phones in the country to offer a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC.We also reviewed the device recently and you can go ahead and read it here.
