Google releases new Google+ Photos app for Chromebook Pixel

A newly released application for Google’s Chomebook Pixel laptop (for now) lets users browse, back up and share their Google+ photos, says AJ Asver in a Google+ post. The Google+ Photos app will back up new photos to Google+ automatically, once a user inserts his SD card into the laptop. These photos of course, will be only for him to see. The app keeps all of a user’s photos in one place, be it from his camera, phone or folders. Since images are automatically organised in Google+, users can pick the shots they want to share from their collections.

Even if a user is offline, he can view his most recent photos. Pixel owners have the option of either sending individual photos, or a set of photos and even an entire album. All they have to do is select the images and click ‘Share’. The app can be downloaded here and it is currently only available for Chromebook Pixel. If you own a Chromebook, but not the high-end Pixel, you will have to wait since Google is working to bring the app to other Chromebooks too.

A high-end laptop from Google’s popular Chromebook family, Pixel runs the Chrome OS. It was released in February 2013, and Google claims it features a touchscreen with the highest pixel density of any laptop. It comes with an Intel Core i5 1.8 GHz CPU and 4GB RAM. At launch, Pixel was priced at $1,299 (Approx Rs 65,000) for the Wi-Fi-only variant and $1,449 ((Approx Rs 75,000)) for the LTE-ready model.

The Pixel is only slightly thicker than the MacBook Air, but the rounded edges won’t cut into your wrists like they are wont to on Apple's notebook. There is also a dedicated microphone to cancel out keyboard noise during VoIP calls, and video chats should be clear thanks to the 720p webcam up top.
