Google, RailTel reached a new milestone with 100th Wi-Fi facility installed at Ooty station

Google has announced that it along with its partner RailTel have now set up Free Wi-Fi access to 100 railway stations in India. Tagged as the Railwire Wi-Fi, the project was to bring services to 400 station and so far Google and RailTel have reached a milestone with Udhagamandalam being the 100th station in the country to receive the free Wi-Fi facility.Popularly known as Ooty, Udhagamandalam comes at number 100. Google has come a long way from its first launch which took place in at Mumbai Central station back in January this year. At the announcement, Rajan Anandan, VP & Managing Director, Google South East Asia and India promised that we would see 100 stations going live by December and so far the search giant has kept its word and delivered.The objective was to bring online the billions of Indians who are not online. With its first year objective covered Google will have bought 10 million people online.Gulzar Azad, Country Head - Connectivity, Google India, said, "We're really excited about reaching this milestone and it is an incredible feeling to look back and see how far we've come since we announced that we were partnering with Indian Railways and RailTel to provide Wi-Fi at 400 railway stations throughout the country.
