Google Photovine Site Up, Service to Follow Later This Month

Google has a photo sharing service in the pipeline, called Photovine. The website for Photovine is launched, however there is no app or actual service out there. The site currently features a picture of a mobile app (interestingly on an iPhone and not an Android device) and a two line description of the product. It says, "Photovine is a fun way to learn more about your friends, meet new people, and share your world like never before." The Privacy Policy on the site reads, "Photovine is offered by Slide (part of Google Inc),” as well as a support page that explains some details about the project.

A site with no service

The support page says that the site and service is for creating fun and unique collections of photos that they call Vines. It is a constantly gowing series of photos, connected by a uniform caption added by users, their families and people all over the world. Google's also creating a strict standard for the kind of photos that users should put up. They say that as a rule of thumb, if a user doesn't want their family seeing their pictures, they shouldn't put those up. Facebook is also rumoured to be launching a photo sharing app, and earlier this year, Color released with much hype, but all of that hype died down.
