Google Labs' Swiffy Introduces Flash to iOS

If there’s one thing that Apple iOS device users hate about their devices, it’s the lack of Flash support. This issue has been plaguing iOS devices since the very beginning. Google, one of Adobe’s partners has gone ahead and made a Flash to HTML5 converter. The product called Swiffy is a service that allows users to input a Flash file and then convert it to HTML5. The service is in its early stages and it still cannot convert complicated Flash files flawlessly into HTML. This means for now, Flash games and programs are unlikely to work.

Quick Flash to HTML5 conversion by Google Swiffy

The converter allows Flash files to be converted to ones that can be viewed on any browser that supports SVG, Javascript and CSS3. The end product can also be hardware accelerated by most modern day browsers. Google hasn’t made any clear announcement that this will be particularly handy for Apple iOS users, but developers should have an easier time converting their content and advertisers, their ads to HTML5 with relative ease. Adobe themselves have an application that converts Adobe Air content to HTML5, but there’s nothing to convert native Flash content.
