Google is the best employer for pay and benefits, reveals Glassdoor survey
If you are a software engineer at Google, then you probably don’t have much to complain in terms of compensation and other benefits. The latest employee survey by Glassdoor shows Google as the best US employer for compensation and benefits. A retailer company called Costco takes the second spot while the third position is enjoyed by Facebook. Adobe and Epic Systems take the fourth and fifth spots in the list. Microsoft and eBay also make it to the list in the 18th and 25th position, respectively. The Glassdoor survey has listed top 25 companies for compensation and benefits. The compensation in the survey isn’t just the salary, but also other perks like free lunch, stock options and so on. They are based on anonymous employee survey data. The report reveals that software engineers at Google get an average base salary of $128,000 while Apple software engineers earn a tad better at $132,000. Software engineers at Facebook, Microsoft and Amazon make an average of $120,000, $111,000 and $105,000 respectively. CEOs of the top companies have also received a good employee approval - Google’s Larry Page gets 95 percent while newly appointed Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella gets 83 percent. Now, at Apple and Amazon many employees work at retail stores or warehouses and it is the reason why both companies haven’t made it to the list of the top 25 companies, points out a WSJ report. According to the survey, Google ranks highest for “work/life balance” and Facebook tops the chart for internal career opportunities.
