Google I/O 2011: Gmail, Calendar and Google Docs, Now Accessible Offline

Google’s ongoing I/O Developer’s Conference has been seeing a lot of surprise and action. Among the bigger, brighter ones are some lesser publicized ones which have got the users really excited. Google offers a host of services to its users, some basic and hugely popular ones being its mail service - Gmail, Calendar and the equally popular Google Docs.

At the conference, Sundar Pichai, Vice President of Product Management, Google Inc. revealed that his team has been using this popular service on an offline mode for the past three months, with great success. Seeing merit in this idea, he announced that these services will now be available to the users, too. This news is big, especially post Google’s announcement and the subsequent launch of its chromebooks which would vitalize the offline access of these popular Google apps.

All that users need to do now is head to the ‘Offline’ tab in Gmail’s ‘settings’ area.
