Google.Cn Will Stay In China Despite Heavy Censorship

Co founder of Google.com, Sergey Brin has announced that the Chinese language version of Google will continue in China despite criticism that it has bowed down to Chinese censorship laws. The announcement comes a few days after news reports exposed the Chinese government's ban on Google's international search site, Gmail and Google news in the country. The only Google site allowed to function in China is Google.cn which is heavily censored and monitored by the Chinese government.Brin acknowledged the ban on Google's international sites and declared that Google.cn will not be slowed by Chinese blocking tactics. He also said the company hoped to add additional services, if circumstances permitted, beyond search services and Google News.The Chinese government has been severely criticized for its strict censorship laws which block out any sensitive political material from sites like Google. However, IT giants like Yahoo!, Google and Microsoft have been complying with the government for revenue, even though the dictum clearly violates the rights of the citizens, freedom of speech and expression and freedom of the press.
