Google Celebrates Gay Pride Month

Adds a rainbow to the search bar when words like "gay", "lesbian" or other related terms are entered.

June is gay pride month and Google's getting into the celebratory spirit. When you search a term like, "gay", "lesbian", "transgender" or any other related terms, Google's added a six colour rainbow on the right side of the search bar. The rainbow is an edited version of the way Google's been celebrating. In the past, they had a thin bar of the six colours placed end to end.

Google gets colourful in the celebration spirit

Google usually avoids taking a public stance on major issues but it does make its stance on gay rights known. Back in 2008, the company publicly announced its opposition to Proposition 8, the amendment that would take away the right of gay marriage in California. They also launched a commercial on the subject of "gay suicide", which was in response to a wave of gay, lesbian and transgender teen suicides last year. This project was done with the help of Apple, Dell, Pixar and Microsoft.
