Google adds a dose of binary-code Easter eggs to I/O website

Google I/O always brings something new to the table and we don’t just mean the event itself. Google’s penchant for Easter eggs has not left I/O alone either.

Most Google users won’t be able to make it to the Moscone Center in San Francisco where the event will be held, but the company doesn’t want anyone to feel left out of the fun and games at I/O. This year, the search giant has implemented a cool game that uses binary code on their website to throw up some interesting and sometimes weird visuals.

Found cats?

Visit the official I/O website and you will be greeted with a big logo, which is clickable. Wondering where the click would take us, we started clicking randomly and up popped up an Easter egg where the I is replaced by a stretched cat and O is now a fat cat. Our curiosities piqued we ended up clicking in different combinations. We hear there’s a bowling ball and a Simon Says game hidden in there too, but have come up short in our attempts to replicate.

In just five minutes, we found an 8-bit I/O, a space-inspired one, one with many geometric figures and another, for a rasher of bacon and an egg which when clicked on turns into a sunny-side up. And there are many more hidden in there we are sure. Here are some combinations to get you started: 01111111, 00111001, 11100111 and 01010011.
