Marcus Fenix’s third and final adventure to ship with Stereoscopic 3D support.

3D is a trend that I’m personally hoping dies out real fast. It’s beyond annoying when games and movies just throw it in there for the sake of marketing and the result well is some real shoddy stuff. Sony jumped on the 3D bandwagon in a big way and most of their exclusives boast of Stereoscopic 3D. Nintendo experimented with it via their handheld console, the 3DS, and it kind of blew up in their face. Now it’s Microsoft who’s jumping aboard this three dimensional party with Gears of War 3.

Chainsawing should be fun in 3D

According to GameInformer, the game’s executive producer Rod Fergusson let loose at an event in London that Marcus Fenix’s third and final adventure will ship with Stereoscopic 3D support. He goes on to admit that the Xbox360 may not do 3D as well as the PS3 but they still put it in there because well, they could.

Gears of War 3 will release exclusively for the Xbox360 by the 20th of September 2011.
