Skype has recently announced the new build of Skype 5.5 for Windows with the primary feature being deeper Facebook integration. Skype says that with Skype 5.5 they would continue bringing people together whenever they are apart by introducing an easier way to connect with family and friends on Facebook. One can now message their friends on Facebook directly from within Skype. Skype claims that with the new Facebook contacts tab within Skype one can see the Facebook contacts they want to chat with online and then start an IM conversation right from within.![Skype 5.5 with further Facebook integration]()

Skype 5.5 Beta will include the following features:
Facebook Instant Messaging – With this feature one is able to chat with Facebook friends directly from Skype itself.- Facebook Contacts Tab – There is now a new tab within Skype itself which is dedicated to Facebook contacts.
- 'Like' and even comment on a Facebook status - One can use the Facebook News Feed within Skype to like a friend’s status or comment on it without the need to log into Skype.
- New Call Control Toolbar – With the latest version of Skype there will be redesigned graphic icons.
- Call Phones Section – Further improvements to the saving of a phone number in the ‘Call Phones’ section.
- Visual Improvements - Visual improvements to placing a call on hold.
