After the success of Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Ubisoft is definitely not done with the franchise. Ubisoft’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales Tony Key revealed in an interview with GameSpot that the company will be revealing more about its plans for the franchise “soon”. This is in no small part thanks to the massive success that both Far Cry 3 as well as its standalone expansion pack got.

"We’re totally psyched from [Far Cry 3]. It’s a great brand, and now it’s got the recognition it deserves, so we’re clearly going to make another one: more on that soon," said Key. He went on to talk about the success of open world games in recent times, and about how gamers want more freedom when they explore a world.

Looks like he's going to be a major pain in the backside

Have I ever told you the definition of insanity? Oh, I have? Nevermind, then

"I think open world can represent the future of, you know, gaming, and that’s where we’re investing huge portions of our resources--because we believe that that is what consumers want," he said. "They don’t want linear; they want open [world]." He continues to mention, however, that there is always room for linear games with more focused experiences.

Another strange tease dropped by Key in the interview was about the Prince of Persia franchise: "Prince of Persia, it’s got a really strong legacy with Ubisoft and it’s still there. We have nothing to announce, but, you know, we haven’t sold it off or given it away, so be patient. I know that’s hard!"

Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon are both available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. While the former is a more serious look at FPSes and the stories they tell, the latter is a fun throwback to 80s sci-fi flicks. Check out our Far Cry 3 review.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
