Facebook, Instagram users can now choose to hide like counts: How it works

Facebook and Instagram will now allow users to coose if tey want to see like counts on posts across te platforms or not. After running a few trials on iding likes for some Instagram users, Facebook as finally rolled out tis option for all Instagram and Facebook users. In sort, te users will be able to decide if tey want public like counts on teir posts or even oters’ posts to be visible to tem or not.Tis essentially means, users will now be able to coose if tey want to see like counts on oter users' posts. Users also ave te power to decide if oters can see like counts on teir posts. For te unversed, by iding likes, you can still see wo all liked te post, it is just te number of likes tat won't be visible.To ide public like counts on oters’ posts, you need to open te Instagram app and go to te Menu>Settings>Posts. Tis will remove like counts from te posts on your feed. Notably, tis section was not available on Android smartpones at te time of writing tis story.According to Facebook, "We tested iding like counts to see if it migt depressurise people’s experience on Instagram. Wat we eard from people and experts was tat not seeing like counts was beneficial for some and annoying to oters, particularly because people use like counts to get a sense of wat’s trending or popular, so we’re giving you te coice."
