Facebook Acquires Sofa

The software design company would now shift base and join forces with Facebook's design team.

In a bid to beautify and integrate a more engaging interface, Facebook has announced that it would be officially acquiring Sofa, a software design company. Facebook, as we’ve seen has been introducing newer updates, features, tweaks here and there, and this acquisition does make perfect sense.SOFA so good..

Sofa, an Amsterdam-based company has been around since 2006. The company is known majorly for its Mac applications, as also e-commerce products on the web. Sofa, is also known widely for the designs that they do, which includes art, icons, as also interfaces for an established clientele, the most known one being Mozilla. In the days to follow, users could expect Facebook showing in some Sofa trends, since the team would now assist Facebook’s design team.

According to Sofa’s blog, they quickly lapped up the offer made by Facebook, and will shift base to Palo Alto, from their Dutch homebase. Neither Facebook, nor Sofa have come out clearly about the nitty-gritties of the deal, however, it is being affirmed that this is merely a talent acquisition.
