Eudora Mail to go Open Source

Eudora will switch from being a paid product to an open source project based on the Thunderbird platform.

One of the most well known email clients Eudora is about to go free. In its new incarnation, it will be based on the same tech platform as Mozilla's Thunderbird. Qualcomm more known in recent years for its cellular activities has decided to discontinue the paid version of its product and has decided in the future to make all versions of Eudora free and Open Source.

This announcement was made with the release of current Eudora products. The open source version will arrive during the first half of 2007 around the time the paid product will be discontinued. Eudora has also announced that all current technical help and service agreements will be honored through their expected support period.
