Ellen Pao to write a book on 'toxic culture' in the tech industry

Ellen Pao has announced that she is going to be writing a memoir. A press release from Random Publishing house (via Re/code) says that the book will be called Reset. It is touted to be a ‘fearless first person account’ that exposes the toxic culture that 'pervades' the tech industry, adds the report. In the memoir, she will be talking about her experiences both at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, during her time there as a venture capitalist and also as the interim CEO of Reddit.Pao first made it to news when she filed a lawsuit against Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers on the grounds of gender discrimination. She may have lost the case, but it triggered debates and discussions on sexism in the venture capital industry. Since the case, Pao has spent her time speaking out against issues relating to gender and racial diversity in the tech industry.The New York Times writes about how Project Include is an important part of these efforts. The racially diverse group, headed by Pao planned to extract commitments from tech companies to keep track of the diversity of their work forces and eventually share that data with startups. The point of doing so is to ensure when a company starts out, they consider issues of diversity and equality in the beginning itself.
