Dream on! Six new colour options for Nexus 5 shown to be fake

Android fans got all excited yesterday when a report claiming the Nexus 5 getting six new vivid colours came to light. Disappointingly, the video showing the new colours turns out to be fake. Though there was a slight suspicion about the video yesterday, many jumped the gun out of curiosity.PhoneArena was tipped about the video that showed the Google Play store displaying the Nexus 5 in six new colour options. Though the phone looked familiar, the colourful images resembled the colourful Nexus 5 photos that were posted in October last year. However, even back then, they were said to be rendered images showing the possibility of how a colourful Nexus 5 units would look, especially with all the talks about the colourful iPhones that were circulating the web.Pointed by a technology writer Ron Amadeo, the video is almost certainly a fake. Firstly, on the Google Play Store black and white Nexus 5 units have separate pages. On the other hand, the video shows a single unit that changes colours depending on the shade you choose. Moreover, the report says that in the Play Store one will notice the URL change, a loading arrow, and a screen transition. All of this isn’t present in the video. So that's that then, our dreams of multi-coloured Nexus 5s have to be put on hold. It was fun while it lasted, though.
