Dish TV launches Dish+ with unlimited recording

Dish TV, one of India’s many direct to home (DTH) services has introduced the Dish+, India’s first standard definition box with unlimited recording facility. Dish+ is priced at Rs. 1,690 with a 4GB USB drive free as a promotional offer. After the VCR, no recording device was available to consumers to record TV content. Dish+ aims to fulfil the need of the consumers by providing this recording facility.

Speaking on the occasion of the launch, R.C Venkateish, Chief Executive Officer, Dish TV India, said, “Being pioneers and market leaders we have constantly reinvented and redefined the market with thought leadership to be ahead of the pack. Dish+ is being launched in 42 cities of Phase I and Phase II of digitization and will clearly demonstrate Dish+ as a better alternative for all viewers who will shift from analog to digital”.

Its highly competitive launch price will position it as a preferred option amongst all DTH buyers”.

The Dish+ has been designed with fine detailing and curved edges. The unique feature of Dish + is its compatibility with any USB device, that enables plug-and-play operation using an existing USB stick/ HDD. It can thus be used to build an entire genre-based library of one's favourite TV programmes. Dish+ offers an advantage of recording on standard definition (SD). This enables all the benefits of traditional DVR-like recording and playing back of programmes, pausing or rewinding live TV, different play-back positions, event based recording (EBR), time based recording (TBR), and so on.

Earlier this year, Dish TV launched the truHD+ with unlimited recording. The Dish truHD+ has the dual advantage of all HD and Digital Video Recorder (DVR) features, at the price of an existing HD box only, as you get one month of Dish truHD Royale Pack. Further, as a promotional offer Dish TV provided a 4GB USB drive free with the purchase of this Set Top Box (STB). The DVR features include record, rewind, forward, pause live TV, and subscribers can also enable time based and event based recording on the box.
