Dell has added another laptop to its already-crowded Inspiron range. The company, which recently went private again and exited the share market, has launched the Inspiron 15z ultrabook.

Priced at Rs 41,990 on Dell’s online store, the ultrabook comes with a 15.6-inch LED backlit display  with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It has an aluminium chassis that comes in Moon Silver or Fire Red colour variants. The Inspiron 15z runs Windows 8 and includes a built-in optical drive and an integrated 1 megapixel widescreen 720p HD webcam. The 15z’s touch counterpart measures in at 23 mm and weighs 2.46 kg and is only available in Moon Silver colour.

As for the technical specs, the ultrabook is powered by Intel's 3rd generation Ivy Bridge Core i3, i5 or i7 processors and different RAM configurations up to 8GB are available. Graphics acceleration is taken care by NVIDIA's GeForce GT630M 2GB DDR3 GPU.

Thankfully, the device is not limited by the ultrabook moniker and has a great selection of ports. The Inspiron 15z also supports multiple card formats; its various ports include three USB 3.0 ports, a singular USB 3.0 PowerShare, RJ45 Ethernet, HDMI v1.4a and Kensington Security Lock to keep your ultrabook secured to a desk. The Inspiron 15z has a backlit, spill-resistant keyboard with a multi-touch trackpad with integrated scrolling and gestures that are integral to navigating the Windows 8 UI.

Standard for every ultrabook, the Inspiron 15z also comes with Intel Rapid Start Technology and Intel Smart Response Technology which ensure speedy boot-up times. A 6-Cell 44 WHr Battery powers the ultrabook, which also features Intel’s Wireless Display technology to wirelessly transmit 1080p videos to a connected TV and also supports 5.1 surround sound. Other connectivity options include Wi-fi and Bluetooth v4.0. As ever, Dell has tricked out the laptop with a bunch of audio enhancing hardware and software. The company has ncluded a pair of stereo Skullcandy speakers along with Waves MaxxAudio4 audio processing software.
