Computex: Meet Asus's hyper-hybrids, Transformer Book V and Transformer Book T300 Chi

Asus's chairman, Jonney Shih, took to the stage again at Computex 2014 to reveal a host of new products in record time. True to all Asus announcements at Computex, transforming devices took centre stage with the Transformer Book V and the Transformer Book T300 Chi being the highlight of today's announcements. The Asus Transformer Book V is possibly their wackiest contraption yet. It combines the idea of the Padfone with the Transformer Book, giving you a total of five possible use cases. It’s also the world’s first five-mode, three-in-one convergence laptop of its kind. [caption id="attachment_224879" align="alignnone" width="691"] The Transformer Book V[/caption] The tablet features a 12.5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by Intel’s next-gen Core micro-architecture. You also get up to 128GB of flash memory and 4GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The tablet runs Windows 8.1 and can transform into a laptop when docked to the keyboard. The smartphone sports a 5-inch display (resolution is not specified) with LTE and will run Android KitKat. It’s powered by the new 64-bit Intel Atom quad-core CPU, accompanied by 2GB of RAM. There’s up to 64GB of onboard storage and you also get a 8MP rear camera. [caption id="attachment_224877" align="alignnone" width="691"] The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi[/caption] The phone can be docked in to the tablet and you can switch between Android and Windows with the dedicated key. If you dock it with the keyboard, you then have the fifth configuration, which is an Android laptop. The transformer Book T300 Chi is the follow up to the existing Transformer Book T300 – only this time, it’s thinner and lighter than ever before. This detachable Windows 8.1 laptop is the world’s thinnest 12.5-inch, 2-in-1 notebook. It will be powered by Intel’s next-gen Core micro-architecture. Besides being ridiculously at just 7.3mm (undocked), it also features LTE. Both these tablets should be hitting Indian shores in the months to come.
