Computex 2017: Intel unveils Compute Card with Intel Core i5 and 4 GB RAM in the size of a credit card

Intel showcased the ‘Intel Compute Card’, a new modular platform that packs the 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor in a form factor that is almost equal to the size of a credit card. The card packs the Intel SoC, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, Intel Wireless AC 8265 which packs dual-band Wi-Fi card and Bluetooth 4.2.[caption id="attachment_379096" align="aligncenter" width="640"]![Image Credit: Intel]()
Image Credit: Intel[/caption]The company will start shipping the card in August 2017 and the card will be available in four configurations at launch. The lowest end will come with 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage and Celeron processor while the highest will come with 7th Generation Intel Core i5 Processor, 128 GB internal storage with 4 GB RAM. We believe that this will transform computing as we see because of the sheer form and size of the device in addition to the modularity that it brings to the table. Companies can design their machines with all peripherals, display and other things while making it easier to upgrade the processor, memory, and storage of the device.
One thing to note here is that the company is not launching the device for consumers as of now. The company detailed that it is working on a number of solutions that use the Intel Compute Card ranging from laptops, tablets, PoS, AIOs, intelligent whiteboards to digital signages. The company is working with partners like LG, SMART, NexDock, MoBits, Suzhou Lehui, ECS, Foxconn, LG Display, and TabletKiosk. Intel is working with Dell, Lenovo, and HP for solutions based on Intel Compute Card platform.Last but not the least, the company has also released the Compute Card Device Design Kite along with guide and reference designs to device manufacturers to make a device based on the Compute Card.
