The competition against Apple's 64-bit A7 chip seems to be heating up. Not only is Samsung working on a 64-bit Exynos chip, but apparently, Intel is throwing its lot into the ring as well. According to CNET, the company is getting a 64-bit Bay Trail chip ready for Android devices.

"It's not only about Windows 64-bit, we've been talking about Android as well," said Intel's General Manager of mobile and communications group Hermann Eul as he showed off a 64-bit kernel running on Bay Trail with Android at the company's investor day. "We have 64-bit Windows shipping next quarter and, needless to say, we'll run fast to make this happen on Android as well," he continued. 64-bit Bay Trail Android chips could make quite a shockwave in the market

Currently, Intel's Bay Trail is proving to be one of the most powerful chips out in the market. It is powering tablets and 2-in-1 devices made by Dell and Lenovo, among others.

Last week, reports came up stating that ARM is working with Samsung on the Korean company's upcoming 64-bit chip, which many believe will first show itself in next year's Galaxy S5. If 64-bits just aren't enough for you, ARM is also reportedly for 128-bit mobile chips that will be developed over the next couple of years. As ridiculous as it may sound, demand for the chip will supposedly be driven by the drastic performance upgrades needed for biometric sensors and face recognition.
